From the very first moment we entered Ljubljana, people pointed out we should definitely try some Slovenian wines. With a certain pride the local wines are promoted on many menus of bars and restaurants. Rightly so!

Slovenian cuisine deserves the same attention though. There's an interesting scene of chefs right now in Slovenia. Strangely enough, there is no restaurant in the country that can show off with one or more Michelin Stars. I learned that's because the country is too small to catch Michelin's attention. But I'm guessing it might change soon. There's a lot moving in the Slovenian Foodie Scene.

During our weekend we've been blown away on more than one occasion:

At Castle Bled Restaurant, you'll see later on, we had a combination of the best restaurant view ever, excellent wines and exquisit dishes made from local products.
In Ljubljana we had a mighty great dinner at JB, the restaurant of Janez Bratovž. He is known as one of the best chefs in Europe. The restaurant is situated in a marvelous building, designed by Jože Plečnik.
We also had lunch at a lovely little place called Monstera Bistro. The food was pure & genuine. Modern flavors, made from pretty traditional ingredients. Extraordinary for such a small sized bistro.
